A three yearly check up is required for all women between the ages of 25 and 50 and then 5 yearly intervals up to the age of 65.
Women may request additional smears after 65 after discussing this with one of our practice nurses. The NHS does not offer smears prior to the age of 25, but we are happy to provide these on a private basis - please check at reception for the cost.
If smears are abnormal and require treatment, follow up smears are done more frequently at 6 monthly then 12 monthly intervals. You will be automatically informed when your smear is due.
Your smear may be done as part of a full check up in our well woman clinics. Results will be sent directly to you through the post.
